 Today was graduation day! My daughter, Calla Nicole, graduated from high school and stepped across the threshold into her next adventure in her Soul Journey. This afternoon, I made a video that shares our life together through this moment. I have posted it in the Soul Shine Tribe, if you would like to see the joy that is Callie. And so I simply honor, through my lens as Momma-Viv, who she is and how deeply I love her. Wishing you skies upon skies for your exploration, my sweet girl! It is a weekend of celebrating our Graduates who have "completed their course of study successfully" and honoring the memory of our military men and women who have died in service for our country. A sacred time indeed... We pause together to reflect on all that is present for us on Sunday for the Viben meditation call. I hope you are well and life feels good! I am back in Cincinnati after a week away at my favorite home away from home - Costa Rica. It was quite the adventure with my daughter, Callie, and the landing back into the normal routine of life has had its ups and downs. And yet the vibration of spaciousness is still sitting so comfortably with me that the only words that feel appropriate for this week are "Pura Vida!" Pura Vida - "Spanish for 'pure life.' The law of the land in Costa Rica. The expression is used in many forms, from a greeting, to a synonym for "excellent." Ticos (Costa Ricans) follow this lifestyle and are some of the most wonderful people on Earth. A synonym of "hakuna matata." Life is wonderful; enjoy it." ~ Urban Dictionary  I love this phrase for so many reasons. Like all words, there is power in the vibration and meaning of these two simple words. Pure - "free from anything of a different, inferior, or contaminating kind." (Vida) Life - "the existence of an individual human being or animal." When I bring them together and say them in the magical way of rolling sounds that the Spanish language offers, there is a harmony and a lilting cadence to the words that immediately brings relaxation to my body. When you hear the words spoken by someone who lives in that country, usually with a smile, shrug, or laugh, the vibration is even more powerful. And so I offer these words to you with a full heart and a rejuvenated Soul. It is so easy for us to get caught up in the routine of our daily lives and the busy-ness of schedules and tasks. We can lose sight of the relationships that matter and the moments and stories shared that define our experience of life. Being present to the gift of each moment is a choice. I was reminded of that so beautifully last week and I'm continuously realigning and re-centering myself as I transition back into the regular routine. This weekend we celebrate my daughter's graduation from high school with a party at our house and there is a lot of activity swirling. So I keep my newsletter short and sweet and invite you to witness my understanding of "Pura Vida" in this week's Healing Our Souls video. I am writing to you this morning from the hotel near the airport of San Jose, Costa Rica, as I wrap up an incredible week of playing in this beautiful country with my daughter, Callie. Our adventure began, as many do, with contrast - delays and flight changes, long lines, frustration, and a very late arrival a day later to our hotel via dark, rainy mountain roads. So it took me a couple more days to unwind and settle into the slower pace of life that is followed here. The lesson along the way, apparently, was Presence - finding the gift in each moment. And so this week, I have allowed a deeper ability to be in the moment and be fully aware and appreciative of all that is happening in and around me at that exact time. What I have realized is that even with all that I practice in meditation and understand about consciousness and life, I still spend many of my days at home moving very quickly from one project or task to the next. I believe that is why vacations are so important. They offer us the opportunity to slow our pace down and just simply be in the moment. And through this practice of being more aware, I now find myself rejuvenated. Rejuvenate - "To restore to an original or new condition; to make someone look or feel younger, fresher, or more lively..."  I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment with my daughter, seeing life and travels through her eyes, which are so wise. She was the one nudging me to "Dip under the water, Mom!" at the base of this incredible 250 feet / 75 meters waterfall called La Fortuna, "The Fortune" (which involved climbing down 400 steps and then back up them after our swim!). Quite the adventure! I know that in relationships we are the mirror for the other, and I am honored to see myself reflected in my daughter. She is a gift to our world. And so as we wrap up this mother-daughter week away, we return with a rejuvenated energy, a focused alignment on celebrating her graduation from high school over the next two weeks, and a delight in all the pleasures of this life we are living. We fly home today and I celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday with my son, my husband, my daughter, and my own Mom! It is the beginning of May and the beginning of one of my grandest adventures with my daughter yet! Before Callie was born, I studied in the beautiful country of Costa Rica and lived with a family that have remained close to my heart. Throughout the years, Callie has heard me share stories of my "Mama" Daisy and been told repeatedly that "One Day" we would go visit her together in person. Well, One Day Is Here! And my heart is singing in celebration at the beauty of this life that I am living and the perfection of its timing again and again. Sing - "To make musical sounds with the voice, especially words with a set tune..." I am deeply connected to music and sound and I have spent my life believing that I don't have a good singing voice. What I understand now is that my way of singing is simply different than others. I sing through meditation. I express my Truth and I allow Source to flow through my voice through the "set tune" of visualization. And what flows through me is absolute perfection because it is Source Love and Source Energy expanding within the containers that I hold during meditation time. One of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard that describes how I feel in this moment the best is "Song of Your Heart" by Snatam Kaur, whose voice is from the angels. She describes in a blog post from September of 2012 that the song "is a poem that I wrote for my daughter. It is what I know to be true, and in this way, I dedicate it to all children on the planet, and all those who take the journey into their heart." "You are becoming The song of your heart How beautiful it is As the flower blossoms forth Feel the earth in your toes Oh my child you’ll never know What tomorrow brings So sing, sing, sing Rise before the morning light Let your soul take its flight God is with you listening So sing, sing sing Hand in hand we shall go Through the grassy hills of gold See the hawk circling We sing, sing, sing..." I could not be more excited than to have my beautiful daughter right by my side as we learn to sing together in this new way, as equals, as partners as she graduates and begins her own Soul Journey. I honor the choice that she and I made to allow our beautiful connection in this lifetime and I celebrate ALL that she is becoming. "One Day" Is Here and my heart is full... steady... eager for all that is yet to come.  Daisy and I during one of my return visits many years ago.
